2-day trip to Shangri-La pastoral area

It's more about forest education than forest bathing; they learn about the local flora and fauna, especially mushrooms, which the region is famous for. 🍄

She also organizes trips to small Muslim-Chinese villages around Dali, where a very interesting minority lives - the Hui people who worship Allah. ☪️

During the holiday, I signed up for a two-day Shangri-La pastoral area hiking activity at OTC Town @ Dali Cangshan Hiking House. As someone who saw snow-capped mountains and pastures up close for the first time, I still find it hard to forget the feeling of freedom and sacredness.
Maybe humans are always excited by unpredictable extreme weather! Waking up in a herdsman's house and seeing rain outside all day, I was inexplicably worried about the experience, but until the car reached the foot of Tongbao Snow Mountain and I saw the snow falling gently, I suddenly realized that this might be more worth visiting than a sunny snow mountain.

The mysterious snow mountain hidden behind the snow curtain, herds of yak roaming through the jungle, and the shining purple rhododendrons in the snowfield all call deep inside for a longing for freedom, finally becoming children of nature again!

Just hiking all the way to a small wooden house in the snow, everyone sitting around the stove, understanding how powerful the stew with yak meat and a huge amount of instant noodles is at this moment. We from different places and countries chat about common topics, watching the gradually slowing snow outside the window, thus preserving precious moments of life in Shangri-La.

I recommend this activity again. The two guides, Aruna and Xiao Qi, are reliable and humorous. Staying at Summer Pasture, eating Tibetan food, drinking barley wine, hunting wild plants, the hiking route is free of tourists' noise, and the two-day experience is better than the whole holiday.
Hopefully, we will meet again someday, Shangri-La.

The scenery at Arura is truly beautiful. Enjoying the ranch and snowy mountains with your kids is effortless and delightful. I love it!

This trip deep into the Shangri-La pasture area was fantastic. The two guides were very thoughtful, not only preparing tea and energy snacks but also restaurant-quality meals. Staying at a Tibetan family's home, we could ride bikes and enjoy the sunset and grassland views, which was very relaxing~

Distant smoke rises in the sky, like a painting~ The next day, we went up the mountain and saw many plants that only grow in high altitudes. These are usually kept in glass houses at Kunming Botanical Garden and not accessible. Climbing the mountain and seeing them with my own eyes was a very special experience and unforgettable!

This immersive life travel experience in Shangri-La牧区 was really wonderful. The 2-day itinerary allowed me to experience the local unique culture and customs, highly recommended for travel enthusiasts. Glad to have met姐姐 Aruna, friends, and local姨姨s, experiencing different attitudes towards life.

Nature gives us room for self-reflection... Peacefully spending time with grass, trees, cattle, and horses, finding ourselves amidst busy work and life, relaxing a bit!

Meadows, yaks, stars, and various highland plants. The two-day, one-night trip was full of rewards. It's hard to imagine that just three hours from the romantic and poetic Dali, you can reach a high-altitude牧区 and experience a different culture. Thank you, Aruna. Hope to see you again!
