"Everyone knows Shangri-La, but it seems that few people can actually enter Shangri-La. The car takes you to a completely newly built town. Apart from the scenic spots and temples, you are there but have never been to Shangri-La."
The soul of Tibet is in the grassland, and the beauty of the grassland does not lie in passing through it. The morning mist and the first ray of sunshine, seeing the horses roaming or galloping freely, and the cattle and sheep strolling, it would be a wonderful trip.

This 2-day and 1-night itinerary: Two people travel together, buy fresh yak meat at the vegetable market, go to a local Tibetan home to roast dinner over a fire, stay at a Tibetan herdsman's home, and after having a Tibetan breakfast the next day, drive to the foot of the snow-capped mountains and hike to an uninhabited pasture in winter.

03.09 Stream at the foot of the snow-capped mountains

By the river in the pasture, my mother was carrying a backpack and shoveling cow dung to collect fuel for the winter. The frost was crystal clear under the sun. Our activities also followed the yaks, from camping in the pasture in summer to warming up in the Tibetan stove in winter, and living in the Tibetan area.

When I got up in the morning, the windows of Zhaxi's house were full of fog. My sister lit the Tibetan stove early, and the house was steaming. It was minus 10 degrees outside, and the yaks on the pasture had gone out early to find grass. There were only a few calves left in the fence next door, playing and waiting for a day of sunshine. My sister prepared butter tea and tsampa, and in case we were not used to it, she also prepared eggs and steamed buns. Minmin smiled and said in not very fluent Chinese, "Eat quickly" to calm down, and she covered her face with a headscarf: "I'm going out to chop some firewood."
