After visiting Fengyu twice in a row, we were captivated by the rustic beauty of this countryside. This was a spontaneous rural trip, and we hope to share the beauty of the streets, forests, fields, and ancient buildings here with everyone, hoping it will become a special memory of Dali for you.

Activities are suitable for two people.

 

Light hiking with easy difficulty, suitable for adults and children over 4 years old.

 

Departure time: 10:00 AM, approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes by car to Fengyu, with a simple meal at the town with the guide. The guide will prepare tea, snacks, and fruits during the hike.

 

Return time: 7:00 PM in the evening.

 

Enjoy local stir-fry at a local restaurant in the town at noon (included in the activity fee).

In March, bypassing Cangshan Mountain, driving into Fengyu Bazi, on the hillside of Qifeng Village, from afar, the village girls are bending over to harvest rapeseed, beans on the trellises beside the road are starting to climb, and seedlings are also planted in the rice paddies. In front of us is Fengyu, deeply dependent on the land, showing the scenes of spring plowing year after year, throughout the four seasons.

 

We visit Fengyu in every season,Its fields are truly like a painting that changes with the seasons, each with its own main color tone and vitality.

 

The golden rapeseed fields spread around the village during spring plowing, nestled among the re-greened broad bean fields.Mules and horses began plowing the fields.The flooded rice paddies look like mirrors from the mountain top.

 

In midsummer, the rice and corn grow wildly on Fengyu's dam, creating a lush green scene.

 

Before and after the autumn harvest when Xiao Xiao, Yang Mchu, and I first visited, the women and threshing machines were busy in the fields, under a bright blue sky.My minivan drove through fields of yellow and green, past flocks of sheep, and past the bare tobacco stalks after harvest and the women busy harvesting corn.

 

The first time I visited Qifeng Village was in September last year. The surrounding area was covered with patches of white rushes. Standing on the roadside, looking from afar, the white rushes looked like glowing mists swaying in the sunset glow. At that time, we headed towards the village without resistance.

 

This time, we specifically visited Lingjiu Temple in the village, an ancient temple built during the Ming Dynasty, which has been restored and still retains the 'Lingjiu Temple Stele' erected in the fourth year of Hongzhi in Ming.The inscription records the history of villagers rebuilding the temple over seven hundred years ago.

 

When we arrived, the uncles in the village were chopping firewood in the yard. When asked about the reason, they said it was in preparation for an upcoming Dharma assembly, which is both traditional and part of daily life.

 

 

Entering here in this way gives the illusion of arriving in a utopia, but calling it a utopia is not an exaggeration.

 

After having lunch at a restaurant in the town, we visited an ancient temple complex in the forest.

 

On a meadow halfway up the mountain, a cowherd passing by pointed to the tallest tree in the distant forest and told us there is a trail leading to the mountain temple. This is an ancient temple complex hidden in the forest, with all the temple gates closed. Through the narrow gaps, we can glimpse the smiling Buddha statues. There is a sense of forgotten humility here, a bit of coldness, but very special.

 

It has become the master here.

 

Xiao Qi kept praising the couplets and inscriptions here, feeling that their words are concise but profound. They are hidden in every corner, and when you come here, you can also look for them and try to understand.

 

This is a serendipitous route that gave us the chance to leave Cangshan and visit this 'utopia' composed of fields, forests, and ancient temples.

 

In the evening, along the winding mountain road, we crossed Cangshan Mountain back to Dali, and even the scenery on the road was intoxicating.
