Fengyu Spring Festival (Lantern Festival)

The "Spring Festival" in Fengyi, Dali, is also known as "welcoming the spirit official", "holding the imperial altar" or "receiving the commander", with a history of more than 200 years. It is a comprehensive festival evolved from a single sacrificial activity by the residents of Fengyi city, who gradually integrated the elements of public entertainment into the inheritance of sacrificial activities such as ancestor worship and nature worship.

The "Spring Festival" is hosted by Fengyi's East, South, West and North Streets in turn every year. The art troupes from the village committees of Fengyi Town perform ancient music, stilts, acrobatics, dragon and lion dances, yangko lanterns, opera masks, folk songs and dances, etc. It is very lively.

In 2005, Fengyi's " Spring Festival " was recognized as a municipal-level folk intangible cultural heritage; in 2015, it was included in the fourth batch of state-level intangible cultural heritage project list.

General process:

The 13th day of the first lunar month

Starting from 9:00, a series of activities called "Welcoming the Marshal" will be held, including art performances by various art troupes.

The 15th day of the first lunar month

The welcoming parade begins at 13:00, with dragon lantern art troupes from each village performing and ancient music from Dongjing playing during the march... The touring team has loud gongs and drums, graceful dancing, and a large lineup.

The 16th day of the first lunar month

At 16:00, a long street banquet featuring local "Tubawan" delicacies will be held on West Street (from the east gate of the Cultural Center to the National Education Center).
